Spellbinders – January Club Kit Hop

I started off with a panel of Seafoam green card stock and used one of the hearts (there are three different ones!) and inked it up with Clear ink and randomly stamped the images onto the panel. I sprinkled the Ranger Sticky Ink powder and then heat set it. This is a fun powder. It stays tacky so that you can take things like Gilding Flakes and adhered them to a card. Gilding flakes are quite a commitment. I highly recommend having a box to work in because these babies get air born with the SLIGHTEST amount of air. Having your project in a box helps eliminate those drafts and allows you to contain the small pieces. I pinched a small amount and began pressing them into the stick ink. I continued until I have everything decently covered. Once done, I used a paint brush to knock off the pieces that didn’t stick. I love the different look that gilding flakes give vs. embossing powder. Its a more antiqued look and I enjoy that!

Once I had it all completed, I grabbed my colored pencils and very carefully as to not disturb the gilding, I very basically colored the images. I left the background of the hearts to be just the cardstock. After not having enough definition. I grabbed a pencil that was slightly darker than the cardstock and began coloring the background. I then took it another step further and shaded the the hearts to make them look solid. I added a sentiment from the stamp set and viola!

I really love how this card turned out, even if it was a labor of love trying to get the gilding flakes to stay contained!
