Ink Blending and Emboss Resist

Categories – , ,

Have you ever been inspired by something someone else did? It happens to me all the time. Jessica Frost Ballas recently did a catalog of her favorite Distress Oxide Ink blends, and I have been inspired by more than one trio. Recently, it was her Dried Marigold, Seedless Preserves and Abandoned Coral. Upon seeing this combo, I needed to create a card with it! So I went to the crafting cabinet and pulled out some new to me stamps and dies that I hadn’t played with yet. The first stamp being the background stamp Spring Flowers from the Let’s Connect Simon Says Stamp Release.

I made two cards, one with gold accents and one with white. I did each step at the same time. I inked up the background stamp with versafine clear ink, and embossed one panel with SSS Antique Gold powder (surprise, this is my new favorite gold embossing powder!) and the other with white. Then, I set out doing the fun part… the ink blending. I started with the inspired ink blend mentioned above!

I tired to focus each color on the florals, starting with the lightest to the darkest. After I finished, I white the panel with a microfiber cloth my husband picks them up from Harbor Freight) to make sure the white embossing popped. I then added some water drops to add some depth to the piece, as well as some acrylic white paint splattered. Up next I used SSS Etched Eucalyptus Wreath and die cut it in white, followed by a SSS Happy Birthday die. Finished it with some white pearls from Studio Katia.

For the next card, I followed the same steps, except with gold and a slightly different color pallet.

Which one is your favorite?! Gold accents or white?
