SSS – Sunshine Flowers CK

Categories – , ,

Hello crafty friends! Today I have this beautiful card for you today featuring the Simon Says Stamp September Card kit – Sunshine flowers. This card kit came jam packed with SO MUCH AWESOMENESS!

Here is a list of supplies used to create this card…

I was VERY inspired by Amy Rysavy’s Halloween card #8 of this current Halloween series. She used the most beautiful ink blend of the distress oxide inks! And while I didn’t follow her card completely, it is a FOR SURE check out here.

I started with ink blending the Distress Oxide inks using my favorite paper to ink blend on, Simon Says Stamp – Ultra Thick 130 lb Card Stock. This paper is super dreamy for all ink types. I also used blending brushes to make sure I got the blend just right! I started with the lightest color Distress Oxide Ink – Wild Honey, and worked my way in rainbow order with Ripe Persimmon, Seedless Preserves, and Chipped Sapphire. Aren’t these colors a fall sunset? I used my Distress Water bottle sprayer to spritz the panel lightly to get the white distress spots in the background. I made sure to heat the panel to ensure the ink was all dry.

I then took the Sunflower Garden set that was included in this September Card Kit and stamped it onto the card using VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink and then quickly covering it in Clear embossing powder. I heat set it until clear.

I then took Distress Ink – Black Soot and smooshed it onto my glass media mat and started to use it as a water color, painting it on. I wanted it to look like the flowers when the sun was setting. When I was done, I assembled my card and added the sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp SENTIMENT STRIPS REVERSE SLIMLINE LOVE. I wanted to keep it simple to ensure that the flowers really stood out!

Make sure you give Amy’s blog a look to see how she did this color combo a little differently!

You painted black soot on clear embossed image? If yes, never knew this was possible. I thought the clear would resist the ink. Cool effect.

Hi Gail! I stamped the image in black ink, then clear embossed that and it was just an outline that was clear embossed. It repeals ink so you cannot color on Clear Embossing.

I used the black soot to color the image.
